Spring Hill Neighborway

Somerville, MA

Started: 2015

The Spring Hill Neighborway encompasses several streets linking the High School with the Community Path, Lexington Park and the Hancock Street Neighborway. Streets on the route include Spencer Ave, Hudson Street, Central Road, Madison Street, Montrose Street, Willoughby Street and the Cambridge Health Alliance Parking Lot.

Street Paintings

Willoughby Street was the *first* project we undertook. A key partner in the effort was the Lesley University College of Art and Design. The students did an amazing job of working with residents to design a bird-motif. There are over 40 bird houses on the street. Come down and see how many you can count! Currently residents are waiting for the street to be repaved before repainting the mural on the street.

Hudson Street was Somerville's second street painting. A controversy over resident notification of around design means that this street painting is unlikely to be repainted.

The community is currently looking for a resident to help lead repainting this street, or leading a new design process for the street. Contact us for more information.
