Revere Neighborways – Garfield Ave Paint Day

Check out the amazing work the Garfield Ave team did the first weekend of August! Big hat tip to our whole team: Liz LaManche, Vanny Huot, Dimple J Rana, Jessica Mortell, and Mark Chase for all their hard work to make this happen!

On Saturday, August 3rd, the City of Revere successfully conducted Neighborways – Garfield Ave Paint Day, a traffic calming and community building initiative introduced by Mayor Arrigo and led by the City’s Healthy Community Initiatives Department and Revere On the Move that involved a street mural installation.

This was the first of the Neighborways pilot series in Revere, with support from Councillor Ira Novoselsky, The Neighborhood Developer’s Revere Community Committee, the Garfield Elementary School PTO and many community members.

Over 50 volunteers convened to help paint the intersection of Blake Street and Garfield Avenue. Some abutters came out to offer support and donate a dish to the volunteer luncheon. Fun was had by all. A little rain passed through, but that didn’t dampen our spirits. Volunteers enjoyed a brief karaoke session under the tents and strangers became friends. Shout out to Tom Malone and Randy Cipoletta of the Revere Police Department for helping to keep everyone safe. Thank you, Artist Liz LaManche for the design work.
